Wild garden flower bridal bouquet pressed preserved preservation

Caitriona had a stunning selection of vibrant garden flowers… delicate, wild & wispy, with lots of textures and colours to choose from…

Garden style flowers are perfect for getting good preservation results, mainly because they’re quite papery and delicate. Less moisture content helps preserve the colour during the pressing process… look at how colourful those bright blue larkspur and red crocosmia, with pops of yellow craspedia…

The little aubergine alliums are one of my favourite things to press, the details! I’m going to let you into a little secret on how I get them so flat… I hammer them! Yes! about a week after they’ve been in the press, I take them out and lightly hammer the thick bulbus centre until they’re flat. Don’t be afraid if you loose a few seeds. Put them back onto fresh blotting paper and press them for another week or so, and voila, perfectly flat alliums!
