Florence & Luke arrived at my studio with big smiles on their faces and full of the joys of just getting married…

They chose lots of frames… some for the wall in the hallway, some freestanding ones for the bedroom… “oh and we better get two for our mums”… “and what about our 6 bridesmaids”!

“I love pink”… “my bedroom is pink”.. “can you do your best to make sure some flowers keep their colour”?

Peonies are one of the hardest things to press… The higher the moisture content and the more petals a flower has, the harder they are to preserve!

I removed as many petals from the centre of the peony as I dare, this helps drying process and is less likely to go mouldy… I pressed some petals individually, single petals pressed individually retain their colour really well. I then pressed the remaining flower heads, running them through a food dehydrator to help speed up the drying process, which in turn helps preserve the colour… When I opened up the presses I was delighted to see lush pink edges!

"My brief to Clair was... Try and keep as much pink as you can... On my way to collect my flowers I couldn't wait to see the results, I wasn't disappointed when Clair reviled her work, it was like seeing them for the first time all over again! She used the pink silk ribbon from my bouquet which really set the whole thing off. Thanks Clair..."
