Funeral sympathy flowers pressed preservation autumn eucalyptus pussy willow floral art memorabilia

A lovely lady came me with a simple bunch of autumnal flowers they’d brought back from a family members funeral… transforming them into beautiful piece of memorabilia…

I gently hammered the woody pussy willow… this method helps soften the fibres in the stems before pressing

The peach lissianthus were dismantled petal by petal, pressed, then reconstructed and glued back together. Pressing petals individually instead of as whole preserves better, holding their colour… I use same technique with hydrangea heads, breaking them up into smaller pieces instead of pressing the entire head. You can remove a lot of excess petals, this speeds up the drying process which in turn produces better results… You then press the individual petals,  gluing them back on once preserved, hiding any spots which have faded during the process…

The eucalyptus and orange oak leaves are always very easy and simple press, requiring just a few weeks, keeping their true form once pressed…
